If you have been thinking about getting an automatic espresso machine for your home, then you are not alone. They have become extremely popular because they do virtually all the work for you and they are no longer just for commercial use. However, an espresso machines need to be solidly built to stand up to pressure since they rely on built up steam and heat to create espresso and cappuccino. Espresso machines can perform the task of brewing a great espresso with very little margin of error. When the grounds are added manually, there is often an opportunity for error.

Automatic espresso machines are a great invention, which, next to the coffee maker, will add exactly what is needed to your day, a great cup of caffeine that will get you started and on your way! An espresso machine will cost a bit more than a regular coffee maker, but you also have to think about how much more the machine is going to do for you! Automatic espresso machines are similar to semi-automatic except that they have a flowmeter installed inline with the grouphead. Automatic espresso machines designed primarily for commercial use are the most expensive, usually costing several thousand dollars.

An automatic espresso machine will give you the perfect cup of coffee and you can be certain that it will also deliver coffee with the punch that you require. If you are looking to buy an espresso machine for your home, you will have the possibility of choosing between one that is semi-automatic and one which is fully automatic.

The machines are designed to do their job with just a push of a button and are usually the best type for home and professional use. They are powered by an electric pump instead of manual lever action, allowing for powerful pressure capabilities and ultra reliable consistency. They are very similar to the semi-automatic version, but the temperature and amount of the water is also controlled automatically.

Grinding the coffee, tamping it into the portafilter and cleaning on the used puck will still be your job with an automatic machine. Most of these machines have controls that allow you to use them also as a semi automatic machine. Most of them have 5 buttons. The last button on the right is usually for manual flow.

In comparison, traditional machines require the operator to manually create the espresso. Proper grinding, dosing, tamping, temperature, pressure, and extraction timing is an art that requires experience and precision. However, traditional machines do allow the true Barista in you to come out!

Most automatic espresso machines are used by commercial coffee shops like Starbucks. Commercial coffee shops use machines that are restaurant quality in order to guarantee espresso on a quick and consistent basis. The downside to buying an automatic espresso machine is most definitely the cost but that may still be a small price to pay for the convenience of being able to have espresso when you want it and how you want it as well as how much you want. Espresso machines are a joy to own and buying your own should be a joy too.
